3 Inside Activities to do When it’s Cold Outside

February 16th, 2019

When it’s this cold outside, it’s a good time to find activities to do inside. February weather has been cold, to say the least.

In over 21 years, according to Environment Canada’s historical data, there has not been a stretch of weather that has been consistently as cold as parts of Alberta are experiencing now.

If you are asking yourself what is there to do? You have come to the right place.

We have put together a list of 3 inside activities to do when it’s cold outside.

1. Try Your Luck at a Friendly Game of Cards

We know that sitting in front of a table playing cards doesn’t appear to be the most active of activities, but keeping your mind active is just as important as keeping your body active.

Whether you’re playingKaiser, Bridge, Cribbage, or even Old Maid, playing cards with your friends is beneficial in many ways. It stimulates the mind by keeping you thinking, and the social benefits are great as well.

2. Give Dancing, Singing, and Acting a Try

We’re including all of these amazing, creative activities into one because they all have similar benefits.

There are the physical benefits of getting up on your feet, moving around, and following a beat. Want to learn how to square dance? Check out the Rockyview Ramblers.

There are the social benefits of being in a group, large or small, and working with others to have fun and accomplish something.

There are also the benefits of being creative. Keeping your mind working and being creative is very important for seniors.

The Airdrie Over 50 Club seems like a great place to indulge in all of these activities.

3. Have You Ever Tried Bowling?

No matter if it’s real bowling on a lane or Wii bowling on a television, getting a strike or spare is a great way to keep active in the wintertime.

It’s a great exercise for your entire body and helps stretch out your shoulders.

Both five and ten pin can be challenging and it’s something that anyone can do – skill levels don’t matter at all.

All winter, Cedarwood Station do their best to plan out numerous activities to keep seniors happy and healthy, even when the weather keeps you from venturing outdoors.
