Activities to Unleash Inner Creativity

Activities to Unleash Inner Creativity

February 27th, 2022

There are so many things that one can do to unleash creativity. Here are a few simple ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

A New Hobby

Consider trying a new hobby like knitting or crochet. Needlework is not just for women, there are plenty of male yarn artists. It’s a very simple activity requiring a needle or two and some yarn. There are thousands of stitches, and you can make up your own, as well. There are free tutorials available online, on YouTube, for example, and every town has clubs or guilds you can participate in, even virtually.

Drawing

Many of us have some talent that we are not aware of. To draw all you need is a pencil or pen and a piece of paper. You can draw things you see or things you see only in your mind. You can make your drawings as simple or elaborate as you like. Then you can try your hand at watercolours or pastels. There are no art police that will tell you whether or not you have talent. Just do it, and enjoy your creativity.

Writing

Writing can be creative and it can also be therapeutic. Try writing your thoughts down or old stories, or even poetry. Keep a diary or write lyrics to songs. There is no limit to what you can create with words. You can create word games or crosswords. Language is a wonderful way to be creative. One suggestion is to sit with some others, and everyone starts with the same sentence. Have each person write a one-page story starting with the same sentence. See what each person comes up with and how creative the results are.

Part of being human is being creative, but we also express it in different ways. Feel free to explore methods of creativity that you may not have tried before. You will be amazed at how creative you are.
